Kano Police Recover Stolen Car, Pistol as Crackdown Nets 123 Vehicles
The Kano State Police Command says it has recovered a stolen vehicle and a locally fabricated pistol while intercepting 123 vehicles during an ongoing enforcement operation targeting vehicles with concealed, defaced or missing registration number plates across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, disclosed this while reviewing the progress of the special operation, which was launched to curb criminal activities and improve public safety in Kano.
According to the police, the operation led to the interception of 123 vehicles found to be in violation of registration regulations. During the exercise, officers also recovered a stolen vehicle and a locally made pistol believed to have been linked to criminal activities.
Bakori said the operation forms part of the command’s broader security strategy aimed at denying criminals the opportunity to use unregistered or improperly identified vehicles to commit offences across the state. He added that the enforcement exercise would continue until full compliance is achieved.
The police commissioner urged motorists to comply with registration requirements by ensuring their vehicles display valid and visible number plates at all times, warning that violators would face prosecution in accordance with the law.
He also appealed to residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing credible information that could assist in preventing and combating crime in Kano.
