NSCDC Foils Kidnap Attempt, Cattle Rustling Operation in Kano
Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, have foiled an attempted kidnapping and cattle rustling operation in Kiru Local Government Area of the state.
The incident occurred at Bakin Komau in the Dangora area, where armed assailants reportedly attacked a shepherd, inflicted injuries on him, and abducted two of his children while attempting to rustle livestock.
According to the NSCDC, personnel stationed near the Dansoshiya Forest responded swiftly after receiving a distress call and engaged the suspects in a gun battle. The attackers were forced to abandon the abducted victims and flee into the forest.
The rescued victims were identified as Abubakar Saleh, 36, and Muhammad Inuwa Dille, 30. They have since been reunited with their family, while the injured shepherd, Alhaji Saleh, 70, received medical attention.
The NSCDC said its operatives were deployed in the area to provide security for an ongoing dam construction project and to protect grazing reserves and farming communities from criminal activities.
The Kano State Command, led by Commandant Mohammed Hassan Agalama, reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives, property and critical national assets across the state.
The command also urged residents to continue providing credible information to security agencies to strengthen efforts against crime and improve rapid response to security threats.
