Kano Police Warn Against Roller Skating on Highways

The Kano State Police Command has warned residents, particularly young people, against roller skating on highways and major roads, citing growing safety concerns and the risk of road accidents.

The command said the practice poses serious dangers not only to skaters but also to motorists and other road users, stressing that highways are not designed for recreational activities.

Police authorities urged parents and guardians to caution their children and wards against engaging in roller skating on busy roads, noting that such activities could result in injuries, loss of life, and disruption of traffic.

The command emphasized the need for strict compliance with road safety regulations and called on residents to utilize designated recreational spaces for sporting and leisure activities.

According to the police, protecting lives and ensuring public safety remain top priorities, and measures will continue to be taken to discourage activities capable of endangering road users.

The command further appealed to community leaders, youth groups, and relevant stakeholders to support efforts aimed at promoting safe recreational practices across the state.

Residents were also encouraged to report activities that pose threats to public safety to the appropriate authorities for prompt action.
