Kano Police Arrest Suspected Bandit Ammunition Supplier, Recover 109 Rounds of Live Ammunition

The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old man suspected of supplying ammunition and other logistics to bandits, recovering 109 rounds of live ammunition and military-related items during an intelligence-led operation in Bichi Local Government Area.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, said the suspect was apprehended after police received credible intelligence from residents of Rimawa community about a man allegedly wearing a military uniform in Rimaye village, Bichi Local Government Area.

According to the police, operatives attached to the Bichi Division acted on the information and arrested the suspect during the operation.

A search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of an AK-47 magazine loaded with 30 rounds of live ammunition, an additional 79 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, two sets of suspected military uniforms, three military caps, a suspected fake military identity card, a pair of desert boots, as well as personal identification and bank cards.

The police said preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect confessed to travelling to the area to deliver the recovered items to bandits operating in the bush. The command added that investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest other members of the suspected criminal network.

Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori commended members of the public for providing timely and credible information that led to the arrest. He urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with intelligence to strengthen efforts against crime and insecurity across the state.

The police reiterated their commitment to sustaining intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and enhancing public safety in Kano State.
