Kano Introduces Daily Shuttle Service for Hajj Pilgrims in Makkah

The Kano State Government has introduced a daily shuttle service for pilgrims participating in the 2026 Hajj in Saudi Arabia as part of efforts to enhance their welfare and ease movement to the Grand Mosque in Makkah.

The initiative, which commenced after the Day of Arafat, is aimed at addressing transportation challenges faced by pilgrims and enabling them to conveniently observe daily prayers at Masjid Al-Haram.

Director-General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Abubakar Matawalle, disclosed the development during a press briefing in Makkah, stating that all necessary arrangements had been concluded to ensure smooth transportation between pilgrims’ accommodation centres and the Holy Mosque.

According to him, dedicated buses have been deployed to convey pilgrims to and from Masjid Al-Haram on a daily basis, reducing the stress associated with movement, particularly for elderly pilgrims and those with mobility challenges.

Matawalle said the intervention reflects the Kano State Government’s commitment to improving the welfare and spiritual experience of pilgrims throughout their stay in the Holy Land.

The Amirul Hajj for the 2026 Hajj exercise and Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, officially flagged off the shuttle operation, describing the initiative as a measure designed to provide pilgrims with easier access to the Holy Mosque for prayers and other acts of worship.

He noted that the programme underscores the commitment of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration to prioritising the comfort and wellbeing of Kano pilgrims during the Hajj exercise.

A total of eight buses with a carrying capacity of more than 50 passengers each have been deployed and distributed across accommodation centres housing pilgrims from Kano State.

The Amirul Hajj also supervised the distribution and dispatch of pilgrims’ luggage ahead of their return journey to Nigeria, urging pilgrims to comply with approved luggage regulations and weight limits.
