Gov. Yusuf Suspends KNUPDA Managing Director Over Alleged Planning Irregularities

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has suspended the Managing Director of the Kano State Urban Planning and Development Authority (KNUPDA), Arc. Hauwa Hassan Tudun-Wada, as part of efforts to address alleged irregularities in the administration of town planning and physical development across the state.

The suspension comes amid the state government’s ongoing campaign to enforce urban planning regulations and tackle unauthorized developments within Kano metropolis.

The Kano State Government has recently intensified actions against illegal structures, unauthorized land-use conversions, and other violations of physical planning laws, describing the measures as necessary to restore order and ensure sustainable urban development.

Authorities say the crackdown is aimed at promoting compliance with approved planning standards, protecting public infrastructure, and improving the overall physical environment of the state.

While details surrounding the alleged irregularities have not been officially disclosed, the suspension is seen as part of broader efforts by the administration to strengthen accountability and improve oversight in the management of urban development activities.

The government has reiterated its commitment to enforcing planning regulations and ensuring that development projects across the state conform to established guidelines and legal requirements.
