NNPC Foundation Donates MRI Machine to National Orthopaedic Hospital, Kano

The NNPC Foundation has donated a state-of-the-art 1.5 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) system to the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Dala, Kano, in a move aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery and improving access to advanced diagnostic services in Northern Nigeria.

The medical equipment was officially inaugurated and handed over to the management of the hospital during a ceremony held in Kano.

Speaking at the event, the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Limited, Bashir Bayo-Ojulari, represented by the Managing Director of NNPC Foundation, Mrs. Emmanuella Arukwe, said the intervention reflects the company’s commitment to improving lives through strategic investments in critical sectors, including healthcare, education and energy.

According to her, the donation is part of broader efforts by the foundation to improve healthcare access and strengthen medical infrastructure across the country. She noted that the MRI system will enhance the hospital’s capacity to diagnose and manage orthopaedic, neurological, trauma and other complex medical conditions.

Arukwe stated that the intervention would help reduce the burden on patients who often travel long distances or face delays in accessing advanced diagnostic services due to limited availability of MRI facilities.

In his remarks, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, represented by the Kano State Commissioner for Health, Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, commended the NNPC Foundation for the donation, describing it as a significant contribution to healthcare delivery in Kano and the wider northern region.

The Chief Medical Director of the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Dala, Dr. Isa Nurudeen, expressed appreciation to the foundation, saying the MRI machine would have a transformative impact on patient care and the hospital’s diagnostic capabilities. He noted that the facility would improve treatment planning and reduce the need for patients to seek advanced imaging services outside Kano.

The event was attended by representatives of NNPC Limited, healthcare professionals, government officials and other stakeholders.
