Kano Installs 12,050 Solar Streetlights to Boost Security and Infrastructure Development

The Kano State Government says it has installed 12,050 solar-powered streetlights across different parts of Kano metropolis over the past three years as part of efforts to improve infrastructure, strengthen security, and boost economic activities in the state.

The Commissioner for Works, Engineer Marwan Ahmad, disclosed this while briefing journalists on the achievements of the ministry under the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

He said the streetlights were installed along major roads, highways, and strategic locations within the metropolis to provide adequate illumination, enhance road safety, and improve overall security.

According to him, the large-scale installation has significantly transformed the night-time landscape of Kano, making roads safer for motorists, pedestrians, and residents, while also creating a more conducive environment for commercial activities after sunset.

The commissioner noted that the initiative reflects the governmentโ€™s broader commitment to infrastructure development across all sectors, adding that Kano is currently experiencing visible developmental changes.

Engineer Marwan commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his support and investment in capital projects, describing his leadership as the driving force behind ongoing infrastructural transformation in the state.

He assured residents that the Ministry of Works will continue to monitor and maintain the installed streetlights to ensure durability, functionality, and sustained service delivery, while also expanding similar projects to other parts of the state.
