Gov. Yusuf Assures Improved Water Supply After Approving ₦21.89bn for Water Treatment Projects.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has assured residents of Kano State of improved and sustainable water supply following the approval of ₦21.89 billion for the rehabilitation and upgrading of two major water treatment plants in the state.
The governor gave the assurance during the Hawan Nasarawa Sallah homage, where he reiterated his administration’s commitment to addressing the persistent water supply challenges affecting residents.
According to the governor, the approved funds include ₦9.9 billion for the rehabilitation of the Challawa Water Treatment Plant and ₦11.99 billion for the upgrading of the Tamburawa Water Treatment Plant.
He explained that the projects are designed to ensure regular and reliable pipe-borne water supply across Kano metropolis and surrounding communities.
Governor Yusuf said access to clean water remains one of the key priorities of his administration, expressing confidence that effective water supply would be restored before the end of his tenure in 2027.
He noted that the rehabilitation and upgrading of the facilities would significantly enhance water production and distribution across the state.
The governor also announced plans to provide subsidized fertilizers to farmers during the current rainy season as part of efforts to support agricultural activities and increase food production.
According to him, the intervention is intended to ease production costs for farmers, improve crop yields and strengthen food security across Kano State.
Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to infrastructure renewal and agricultural development, describing both sectors as critical to the economic wellbeing of the people.
