Kano Law Graduate Earns First Class at Nigerian Law School After Standout BUK Record

Rabi’u Inuwa Gama, a law graduate from Bayero University Kano (BUK), has graduated with a first class from the Nigerian Law School, following a strong academic record at the university.

Gama’s academic journey began to draw attention seven years ago when he scored 304 in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). He went on to record a similar performance in the post-UTME screening, securing admission into the Law programme at BUK, where expectations for his academic performance were high from the outset.

Over the course of 10 semesters, he maintained a consistently strong performance, graduating with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.43. At the end of his undergraduate studies, he was named the Best Male Graduating Student and the Second Overall Best Graduating Student in his set.

Gama described his background as the son and grandson of an alaramma, noting that he is the first in his family to receive Western education. He said this made the journey through higher education particularly demanding, requiring sustained effort and resilience.

Following his graduation from BUK, he proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, Abuja Campus, where he set a clear academic goal of graduating with a first class.

The transition to Law School presented a new level of academic intensity. During his time there, Gama experienced a period of ill health that required hospital admission. Despite the disruption, he continued with his studies, supported by those around him.

He has now successfully completed the programme and graduated from the Nigerian Law School with a first class, achieving the distinction he had set out to attain.

Gama expressed appreciation to his family, lecturers, mentors, colleagues and friends for their support throughout his academic journey, describing their encouragement as instrumental to his progress.
