Gov. Yusuf Urges Parents to Instill Civic Responsibility in Children During Eid

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has called on parents and guardians to use the Eid-el-Fitr period to guide and mentor their children towards becoming responsible citizens.

The Governor made the call during the traditional Sallah homage held at the Government House in Kano.

Represented by the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jibril Ismaโ€™il Falgore, he urged parents to instill values that would make the younger generation law-abiding and responsible members of society.

He stressed that discipline and respect among the youth are critical to the stateโ€™s long-term stability and progress.

Governor Yusuf also appealed to the people of Kano to uphold tolerance and mutual respect, noting that peaceful coexistence remains essential for sustainable development.

He commended residents for their peaceful conduct, stating that their commitment to law and order continues to provide a strong foundation for development and the preservation of Kanoโ€™s cultural heritage.

In his remarks, the Emir of Rano, Alhaji Dr. Muhammad Isa Umar, described the Sallah homage as an age-long tradition observed after Ramadan.

He commended the Governor for ongoing development projects in the emirate, particularly interventions in water supply and the renovation of the Pastoralist Islamiyya School.

The Emir, however, appealed for enhanced security operations to safeguard forest areas and protect rural communities.

Speaking on the history of the emirate, the Falakin Rano, Wali Ado Rano, said the Rano Emirate dates back to the reign of Emir Raunau Dan Yakubu, noting that the current Emir is the 19th ruler.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. Sulaiman Wali Sani said Kanoโ€™s history cannot be complete without the contributions of the Rano Emirate.

In a goodwill message, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Tajuddeen Othman, appreciated the Emir for his continued support for government policies, speaking on behalf of Local Government Council Chairmen.
