Governor Yusuf Expresses Optimism Over Unity in Kano, Seeks Amicable Resolution of Emirate Dispute
Kano, Feb. 14, 2025 โ Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has expressed optimism that growing unity and collective devotion in Kano State are yielding positive results, pledging efforts toward an amicable resolution of the ongoing Emirate tussle.
The governor spoke during the second special prayer session and Qurโanic recitation held at the Government House in Kano, where 4,444 reciters gathered to pray for unity, peace and prosperity in the state.
Governor Yusuf cited the attendance of the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, at state programmes as a sign of improving harmony among political leaders in Kano.
He said he was confident that the prayers offered would contribute to resolving the Emirate dispute in a manner satisfactory to all parties involved.
The governor pledged to work toward uniting political actors in the state, urging leaders to avoid do-or-die politics and embrace mutual respect and understanding.
He also reiterated his administrationโs commitment to tackling thuggery, noting that young people involved in such acts should instead contribute positively to the development of the state.
Governor Yusuf assured residents that his government would continue implementing projects with direct and positive impact on their lives.
He commended the Qurโanic reciters for dedicating their time to pray for the stability and progress of Kano.
In his remarks, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin praised the governor for initiating the unity prayer programme and encouraged other states to adopt similar initiatives to promote peace and cohesion.
Earlier, the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, urged residents to remain steadfast in prayers for the continued progress of Kano State and Nigeria.
