Governor Yusuf Removes Buba Galadima as Kano Poly Governing Council Chair, Appoints Emir of Gaya

Kano, Feb. 14, 2026 — Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has relieved Engr. Buba Galadima of his position as Chairman of the Governing Council of Kano State Polytechnic.

The governor has approved the appointment of the Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, as the new Chairman of the institution’s Governing Council.

The decision followed what the government described as restructuring and alignment with the Kano First Agenda.

Although the tenure of the Governing Council is three years, the chairman’s appointment was terminated before expiration as part of ongoing reforms aimed at improving the performance of the Polytechnic.

Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation to Engr. Buba Galadima for his services to the institution during his tenure.

He urged the new chairman, the Emir of Gaya, to deploy his experience, leadership and commitment toward repositioning Kano State Polytechnic for enhanced academic and administrative excellence.
