Governor Yusuf Approves ₦26.1bn for Roads, Water Supply, and Compensation Projects

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved a total of ₦26.1 billion for road construction, water supply, and compensation projects across the state.

The approvals were granted during the 35th Executive Council Meeting held on December 18, 2025.

A breakdown of the approvals shows that ₦16.29 billion was approved for the re-award of the Gwarzo–Tsaure–Tsanyawa Road project. The council also approved ₦6.81 billion for compensation to 5,015 property owners in Rimin Zakara.

Additionally, ₦2.22 billion was approved for the rehabilitation of Murtala Mohammed Way and adjoining roads within the state.

In the water sector, the governor approved ₦398.2 million for Phase II of the Abba Kabir Yusuf Reach-Out Water Supply Projects. Other approvals include ₦182.1 million for the expansion of the Hotoro water pipeline and ₦111.7 million for the rehabilitation of the Gani Earth Dam.

Governor Yusuf said the projects are aimed at improving road connectivity, expanding access to clean water, and boosting economic activities across Kano State.
