Governor Yusuf Wins CREED Governor of the Year Award, Reaffirms Commitment to Justice and Development

Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, has restated his administration’s commitment to justice reforms, infrastructure development, and good governance. He made the remarks during the CREED Annual Dinner and Awards Night held at Tropical Galeria, Kano.

The Governor was represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of Kano State, Barr. Abdulkarim Kabiru Maude, SAN. He commended CREED for promoting meaningful conversations on law, leadership, and societal progress.

During his remarks, Governor Yusuf highlighted several justice reforms initiated by his administration. He explained that a review of prolonged detentions in custodial centres revealed cases of inmates held for years without trial, case files, or legal representation. According to him, swift actions were taken to trace missing case files, issue legal advice, and release individuals where justice demanded.

The Governor also outlined the progress made in infrastructure across the state. These include road rehabilitation, improvements in water supply systems, upgrades of schools and health facilities, and ongoing urban renewal projects. He noted that these efforts are aimed at building a safer, cleaner, and better-organized Kano.

The event was attended by key government officials such as Hon. Umar Haruna Doguwa, Commissioner for Water Resources; Arc. Ibrahim Yakubu Adamu, Commissioner for Housing Development; Engr. Marwan Ahmad, Commissioner for Works; Dr. Kabiru Sani Yakubu, Managing Director of KASCO; Arc. Hauwa Tudunwada, Managing Director of KNUPDA; and Engr. Abba Kankarofi, Deputy Managing Director of KARMA. His Highness, the Emir of Gaya, Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, was also present.

Governor Yusuf praised members of the legal profession for their dedication to justice and the rule of law. He also congratulated all award recipients for their contributions to societal development.

A major highlight of the night was the Governor receiving the CREED Magazine Governor of the Year 2025 Award for Infrastructure and Good Governance. The recognition celebrates his commitment to urban renewal and his efforts to position Kano as a modern mega city.
