Kano to Host Northern Nigeria’s First-Ever BSides Cybersecurity Conference

Kano is set to make history this October as it hosts Northern Nigeria’s first-ever BSides Cybersecurity Conference, bringing together cybersecurity professionals, innovators, and enthusiasts from across the region to share knowledge and address the growing challenges of the digital world.

The two-day event, scheduled for October 18–19, 2025, will take place at Baba Ahmad University, Kano, and is organized by Cyber Cadet Academy in collaboration with SparkLab Creativity and Innovation Hub.

Part of the globally recognized Security BSides network, the conference aims to promote open discussions, hands-on learning, and collaboration in the field of cybersecurity. Participants will engage in sessions covering ethical hacking, cyber resilience, data privacy, and emerging technologies, all designed to build local capacity and strengthen digital security across Northern Nigeria.

Speaking on the significance of the event, Aliyu Ibrahim Usman, founder of Cyber Cadet Academy, described BSides Kano as a turning point for the region’s tech ecosystem.

“Cybersecurity is no longer just a global issue — it’s a local one too,” he said. “Through BSides Kano, we’re creating a space where young talents, professionals, and organizations can connect, learn, and develop solutions tailored to our own digital realities.”

The event will feature keynote speeches, panel discussions, and interactive workshops led by experts and practitioners from across Nigeria and beyond. It also aims to inspire students and early-career professionals to explore opportunities in cybersecurity and related fields.

As the first of its kind in Northern Nigeria, BSides Kano marks a major milestone for the region — positioning Kano as a growing hub for technology, innovation, and digital resilience.
