KUST staff secondary school shines at national geography quiz, produces Olympiad delegates for Nigeria
Kano University of Science and Technology Staff Secondary School (KUST SSS), Wudil, delivered a stellar performance at the 2025 National Geography Quiz Competition, held during the 65th Annual Conference of the Association of Nigerian Geographers (ANG) at Northwest University, Kano.
Amid a gathering of scholars, educators, and students from across the country, KUST SSS emerged as a beacon of academic excellence, securing second place nationally and producing two of the four students who will represent Nigeria at the International Geography Olympiad in Turkey—a first in the history of Kano State.
From KUST SSS, Aisha Ismail and Yusuf Muhammad Alhaji shone brightest—taking second and fourth place, respectively. Their success was widely celebrated by dignitaries, educators, and participants alike.
On his part, the Vice-Chancellor of Baba-Ahmed University, Prof. Adamu Idris Tanko, said, “These pupils have demonstrated the promising future of geography education in Nigeria,”
Aisha, who was visibly emotional while receiving her award, credited her success to the collective effort of her teachers, parents, and peers.
