Gov. Yusuf Visits JTF Troops as Kano Intensifies Security Operations Against Bandits

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has reaffirmed his administrationโ€™s commitment to restoring peace as he visited Joint Task Force (JTF) troops operating in communities affected by bandit activities in Shanono and Tsanyawa.

Governor Yusuf visited the JTF bases in Yankamaye, Faruruwa, and Tsaure on Tuesday. During the visit, he met with officers and frontline personnel actively involved in ongoing security operations. He assured them of the governmentโ€™s full support, including improved logistics, better mobility, and strengthened operational resources to sustain the fight against banditry.

The intensified security effort is a coordinated multi-agency operation focused on strengthening the Kanoโ€“Katsina border, boosting rapid response capacity, deploying additional personnel, and improving inter-agency cooperation. According to officials, these measures are already helping security teams respond more effectively to emerging threats.

Governor Yusuf also revealed plans to upgrade key infrastructure in the area to make remote communities more accessible. He added that community empowerment programmes will be introduced to support local vigilante groups and strengthen grassroots resilience.

The governor called on residents to work closely with security agencies by sharing timely information and remaining vigilant. He emphasized that the state government will continue to pursue criminals until peace is fully restored.

Security agencies confirmed that the improved logistics support, reinforced deployment strategies, and enhanced community cooperation are already yielding positive results. They noted a significant drop in bandit incursions in the affected areas.

Brig. General A.M. Tukur, who spoke on behalf of the heads of security agencies, thanked the governor for the sustained support and assured that all operations are being carried out with full respect for human rights.
