FEC Approves ₦334bn Kano–Kongolom Road, Gov. Yusuf Commends Tinubu
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following the approval of the review and upgrade of the Kano–Kongolom Road project valued at ₦334 billion.
The governor described the decision by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) as a major step toward strengthening road infrastructure and boosting economic activities across the state and the wider North-West region.
According to the Kano State Government, the redesigned project will cover a distance of 132 kilometres and will be constructed as a three-lane concrete carriageway equipped with solar-powered street lights and modern CCTV surveillance systems.
Governor Yusuf noted that the Kano–Kongolom corridor connects Kano with Jigawa and Katsina states, making it one of the most strategic economic routes in the North-West and an important gateway for trade, agriculture and industrial development.
He said the scale of the investment demonstrates President Tinubu’s commitment to the development of Kano State and the broader North-West region.
The governor stated that the road project would open new economic opportunities for farmers, traders and transporters while reducing travel time and improving safety for road users.
He also commended the Minister of Works, David Umahi, for prioritising quality infrastructure delivery and ensuring that the Kano–Kongolom Road project received attention at the federal level.
Governor Yusuf assured that the Kano State Government would provide full cooperation and create an enabling environment for contractors to ensure smooth execution and timely completion of the project.
He added that the project is expected to create jobs, attract investment and further strengthen Kano’s position as a major commercial hub in the region.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to continued engagement with the Federal Government on initiatives aimed at improving the living standards of citizens in Kano State.
